Dreams of a white Christmas came true!

We had a great Christmas!  First, we spent Christmas Eve with Scott's family in Heber.  Cormac adores his cousins and started saying their names as soon as we got out of the car.  He follows them around like a puppy  :)

Our own Christmas was really fun, too.  Cormac is old enough to be excited about his gifts, so it was really great to watch his face as he tore away the wrapping paper!

Cormac was ECSTATIC about getting Finding Nemo!  It is still his all-time favorite movie.  He just stared at it for a while, and turned it over and over in his hands.  Of course, we had to let him watch it!

Scott and I got fun presents for each other, too.  Here are some unflattering pictures of us:

After presents, we all had aebleskivers for breakfast (as is our tradition), while watching Nemo.  Cormac wanted to watch it again right away!  Sometimes, it really is hard to say no to that face.

Thanksgiving in Las Vegas

We had such a great holiday!  My parents flew out and visited for a couple of days, my brother blessed his baby, and we went to Vegas for Turkey Day.

Cormac LOVED Grandpa.  He got all bashful and sweet with my mom, and I think he even remembered her a little, but he really took to my dad, which was so fun to see.  He brought him books and toys, and wanted to sit on his lap.  I wish he got to see my parents more often.

Brock and Eliza blessed their baby, Mace, at home while we were all here.  It was nice of them to arrange that so the grandparents could be there, and my nephew is growing up so fast!  He's a big, happy boy.

Vegas was fun, too.  Cormac liked all the lights and colors, but he was scared of the water/fire/light shows outside the hotels.

We're just planning on staying home for Christmas, which will be nice and quiet, but it was fun to get out and do something different for a holiday.  Cormac did surprisingly well in the car, thanks to a dvd player on loan.  He's such a good sport, and a happy little boy.

This is Halloween

Cormac is still too young for trick or treating, but we took him to Vivint, where Scott works.  They had some trick or treating stations set up around the building.  Cormac... almost liked it.  He is terrified of elevators, so we had to stop freaking him out and take the stairs after a while!  He did love being told how cute he was and getting to put shiny, crinkly pieces of candy into his pumpkin bucket  :)

We borrowed a costume for him and, I have to say, he made the cutest cowboy!  I took him outside for some pictures, and I can't choose just one, so I'm posting quite a few:

Yep, he is ridiculously adorable.  We took a family shot at a friend's house, so hopefully I'll get to post that later.  Scott and I dressed western, too.

Actually, Scott dressed differently for work, and he was wearing a hat (a fedora).  When we arrived for trick or treating, Cormac was so freaked out he wouldn't let Scott hold him until he took his hat off!  Funny kid.  He usually leaps out of my arms to get to his dad!  Scott put it back on after a little while and Cormac seemed to accept the fact that his dad could be the same person, in a hat.

Bananas

Cormac goes through food phases.  He loves something for a week or more and will not eat anything but that one food -then moves on and will not eat that food anymore!  He refused everything but chicken for a while, then only wanted peaches, etc.  He liked bananas for quite a while, and wanted me to hand him the entire banana, peel and all, so he could eat it all by himself.

Of course, now when I try to give him a banana, he throws it on the floor.  I need to figure out what the little stinker will allow me to feed him next...

Best Nap-time Ever

Today Cormac and I came home right before his nap and I could tell he was ready to go down.  I changed him and just as I was getting him his binkie (reserved only for nap time), my phone rang.  I went into the kitchen to write something down, and heard Cormac heading for the stairs.  I got off the call and he was already at the top of the staircase.  I followed him up and he was laying down in the hall, wiggling and smiling behind his binkie.  I picked him up and started to go back downstairs and he protested, whining and kicking.  I was surprised, so I tried going into his bedroom and asked him, "Do you want to go to bed?"  He grinned at that, so I set him in his crib and he smiled and crawled away from me and put his head down.   He talked to himself for a couple of minutes and drifted off!  Very often, that little boy fights me insistently when I try to put him down for a nap!  What a nice surprise.  I just finished my latest book and since my chores/cleaning are all done, I'm going to relax and enjoy whatever quiet time I have left before that crazy boy wakes up.  Happy Friday to me!

Autumn in Provo Canyon

We took Cormac for a stroll in Provo Canyon.  He loved all the bikers and dogs going by!  (He really loves dogs -he goes crazy when he sees them, and always runs after them and tries to touch them!)  He loves to get down and walk all on his own now, but he also gets tired easily and wants to be carried.  He especially loves to be carried by his dad  :)  He is a Daddy's boy on the weekends, for sure.  He hardly lets me pick him up!

Cormac just takes off and runs away from us, often.  He doesn't even look back!  He is getting pretty fast, too, so we're getting more exercise  :)  Good thing he's wicked cute!

Dr. Dolittle He Is Not

We took Cormac to the petting zoo at Thanksgiving Point.  He was a little nervous, but excited to see all the animals.  He especially loves cows, so he kept "moo-ing" when he saw them. (It sounds more like "meh" but I think that makes it even cuter.)

I got stung by a bee or wasp or something right when we got there, so kudos to Scott for putting up with my complaining and whining  :)  Other than that, we had a lot of fun.  Cormac is getting pretty good about walking in shoes now, so we were able to let him wander a bit -but not too far, because tripping and falling at a petting zoo just seems extra gross.

Anyway, Cormac can also "caw" like a bird now.  He still hasn't figured out "mom" or "dad," but we're working on it.  He is such a happy boy, and it's a lot of fun seeing him so excited about everything in the world!

Cormac's Second First Birthday Party

Well we really can't help spoiling our sweet little boy, so we had another birthday celebration yesterday, with Scott's side of the family.  Cormac was a bit overwhelmed until he realized no one was there to take him away  :)

We had ballpark food for dinner, with Red Sox tableware, of course!  Hot dogs, pretzels, nachos -Yum!!  Cormac LOVES hot dogs, so he was happy to sit and eat and watch everyone else.

We had red velvet cupcakes, and Cormac liked his, I think, once he understood that it was food.

He got messy, but not too bad.  He lost interest pretty fast, probably from eating almost an entire hot dog and half a pretzel, which is a lot for such a tiny belly!

And of course, this much-loved boy got more birthday presents.  He liked unwrapping them, but seemed annoyed that Dad wouldn't let him just play with the paper!  He finally figured out there were toys under all the paper though  :)

It was fun to have everyone over, and we know at least Brad enjoyed himself...

Happy Birthday, Cormac!
