Kindergarten Graduation

Cormac is done with kindergarten. I know all parents say this, but it sure went fast! He has learned so much, too. I'm really impressed with his school. I didn't think he would learn so much. I didn't go to kindergarten, but I know I didn't learn fractions even in 1st grade! And he was ready to be pushed to learn a lot. He reads soooo well now! And I love to see his vocabulary improving. He made a lot of great friends, and really loved his teacher, who was so great.

And most of all, I'm so impressed that he did so well, despite his anxiety. He really struggled the first few weeks, and I had to stay with him on the playground until school started every day. But after a little while, he had friends and played with them instead of holding my hand, and after a while he didn't look back at me every few seconds, and finally I was able to drop him off in the car. I honestly didn't know if that would happen at all, but I think it was the end of October when he finally felt ready. I was so proud of him! And I know he'll be nervous starting the new year in the fall, but he'll do great. He'll have friends and know the school. And even if most of his friends aren't in his class, he'll see them before school and at recess, and soon make new friends, too. I do worry that full-day school will be hard at first, but I know he'll be able to handle it. He's grown up so much and I am just so proud of how brave he is, knowing all the fears that are constantly running through his head. I sure love our Cormac!
