First Day of First Grade

Cormac is in first grade. What?? I can't believe he is grown up enough for first grade. He was wicked excited to go and see his old friends. We went beforehand to meet his teacher and see his classroom. And then he did so well! Last year, he was really nervous and needed me to hold his hand and stay close by until the classes went inside (for weeks). This year, he did so much better! He was still nervous, but he found some friends and his teacher and just waved goodbye to me as they walked in. I was such a proud mama!!

Russell was soooo sad to say goodbye to his brother! He missed him wicked bad, all day! He begged me to pick him up, a few times... every hour. He alternated with asking me if it was "Setember" so he could start preschool  :)

I can't believe my boys are growing up so fast. I know everyone says that, but I still wasn't prepared! Honestly, I like this stage so much  more than when they were babies. They are so much fun! They have great personalities, and are learning so much about the world, and I am just so proud and excited!

Oh and did I mention Cormac started school on his birthday? Happy birthday to him! And me  ;)  I tried bringing him a big Pokemon mylar balloon when I picked him up, but it popped because it was so hot outside  :(  Still, we went out for a nice dinner and had a great time. Happy Birthday to us!

Cecret Lake hike

We crammed in one more hike before school started again. It was beautiful, and shorter than we thought it would be to the lake! So we hiked past the lake a bit, up by the ski lifts, and saw great views, some late flowers, and little streams.

We were glad we got up there early, because it got pretty crowded on the way down. It was so beautiful and cool, though. The boys were asking for jackets when we started! It was plenty hot when we got home. So nice to get away from the hot city!

Donut Falls hike

We've always wanted to hike to Donut Falls. It was a good hike, and the boys did well. We didn't quite get to the "donut" part, though. We would have had to hike through a river with the boys, and there was a little too much water to get them up to the top. Still, we could see the top of the falls, and it was a beautiful hike.

Squaw Peak hike

Squaw Peak was a really fun hike! It is the shortest peak in the area, and the boys had been asking to go to the top of a mountain  :)  So we did! It wasn't too hard for them, though there was some loose rock on a steep part. Both boys wanted to run up/down, and we made them hold our hands  ;)  Yep, we're mean like that.

These boys love hiking -which means we are raising them right! And their small-town-at-heart parents are always happy to get out of the city  :)

Father's Day

Ahhh, I can't believe how much our boys have grown! I love looking at my Father's Day pictures, and seeing my boys all dressed up together  :)
